What is Three pass sand dryer?

The three-pass dryer (also known as the triple-drum dryer) is a type of rotary drying equipment featuring a nested, three-layer concentric drum structure, in which materials undergo heat exchange with hot air across three distinct stages. Its core advantages lie in high efficiency, energy conservation, a compact footprint, and superior thermal efficiency; it is widely utilized for drying granular materials such as sand, fly ash, and slag. it Capacity is 5-120 T/H, We can also customize according to our clients’ requirements.

Working Principle of the Three-Pass Dryer

In the inner cylinder (high-temperature zone)：wet materials come into co-current contact with a high-temperature airflow, rapidly heating up and evaporating a large amount of surface moisture to achieve rapid preheating.

Middle Section (Medium-Temperature Drying Zone)：The material transitions to counter-current contact, extending its residence time to facilitate more thorough, in-depth drying and evaporate internal moisture.

Outer Cylinder (Low-Temperature Zone)：It utilizes residual heat to provide thermal insulation and facilitate gradual thawing, thereby ensuring uniform moisture distribution; simultaneously, the outer cylinder serves as an effective thermal barrier, minimizing heat loss.

Application of  Three-Pass Dryers

Most Suitable Materials: River sand, riverbed sand, sea sand, quartz sand, and other highly flowable, non-adhesive, granular materials.
Compatible Materials: Sawdust, spent grains, phosphogypsum, and other ultrafine powders or high-moisture, non-adhesive materials; as well as activated carbon, carbon black, and other combustible materials.
Incompatible Materials: Untreated sludge, lead-zinc tailings, and other materials that retain moisture and remain adhesive after drying; as well as chicken manure, grains, and other materials outside the scope of the intended industry applications.
